A day at Juodkranté

When we decided to take a trip to the Baltic states, we decided on a road trip covering all the capitals, starting from Tallinn in Estonia to Riga in Latvia to Vilnius in Lithuania. We had no plans initially of taking a detour to visit a place we had not heard of till then….the Curonian Spit, a 98km long sand dune spit that separates the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea, a UNESCO heritage site shared by Russia in the south and Lithuania in the north. Moorish Andalusia!

My one and only exposure to Moorish architecture has been in the south of Spain and to say I was awed would be an understatement. The road to Leh : Part 2

Lamayuru monastry. Our first halt since Kargil and we were itching to do more than just drive through the mountains. There had been nothing much to visit since Srinagar so we were really looking forward to some sight-seeing!

The road to Leh : Part 1

It had been my dream to go to Ladakh. Correction, it had been my dream to go to Ladakh by road. It wasn’t getting to Leh or any of the touristy destinations that was to me the most enticing part of the journey.
